Spring City Tourism and Events Commission on Wednesday announced the addition of several new events culminating into the 7th Annual Lighting of the Depot.

On Saturday, Nov. 26, from 3-7 p.m., horse and carriage rides will be available; Saint Nick and Mrs. Claus will be in the City Hall lobby for kids and family photos; The Grinch will be in the Gazebo for selfies and pet pictures; the Caboose will be lit and decorated as a backdrop for selfies; and several local churches will be providing chorale entertainment.

The Lighting of the Depot at 390 Front St. will be at 6 p.m.

"The city looks forward to the Christmas season every year and is inspired by what the Spring City Tourism and Events Commission is putting together to kick-off the holiday season," said Stephania Motes, city manager of the town of Spring City. "This event, along with the Spring City Chamber’s Christmas Parade on Dec. 10, will put everyone in the Christmas spirit." 

"We’re excited to be a part in making our town an attraction for the community and surrounding areas," said Kevin Jenkins, board member of the Spring City Tourism and Events Commission.

The volunteers and town of Spring City are rolling out the sponsorships and decorating Front Street in Downtown Spring City. Details of this and more events by the town of Spring City can be found on Facebook @townofspringcity or  @visitspringcity. 

Spring City is located in Rhea County in Southeast Tennessee on Highway 27, approximately 54 miles northeast of Chattanooga and approximately 65 miles southwest of Knoxville.
