The Utopia's soundtrack harkens back to the heyday of V-12s

If you are tired of hybrids, electrics, and other silent vehicles, the Pagani Utopia is the cure. This supercar is loud enough to take you straight back to the 1980s. A new Utopia has been spotted and heard at a test track by YouTube channel NM2255 Car HD Videos, which shared a video of the $2.5 million supercar's sounds, including a cold start, revs, and some turns around a track.

The new Utopia is fitted with a six-liter twin-turbo V-12 made by Mercedes-AMG, and it sounds like a supercar from the heyday of the V-12 era.The Utopia’s revs reveal all the middle-mounted twin-turbo V-12’s 864 horsepower and 811 foot-pounds of torque. The Pagani team believes hybrids spoil the driving experience, so they are still building supercars the old-fashioned way, with enormous amounts of horsepower and torque. The V-12's performance is bolstered by the Utopia's light, 2,850-pound curb weight. The supercar features a carbon and aluminum body and wheels (which are wrapped in bespoke Pirello P-Zero tires with a Utopia graphic).

Despite an almost complete lack of modern supercars offered with a manual transmissions, the Utopia lets drivers change the cogs themselves. There is also an automated manual for those who would prefer.

The model from Horacio Pagani’s team is all new and has exquisite attention to detail. The trademark quad-exit exhaust tips that resemble something from Michael Keaton's Batmobile still remain, though, along with Pagani's butterfly doors. Externally, the Utopia is a beautiful car with a classic design inspired by 1960s and 1970s Porsche race cars such as the 917 KH Coupe. However, the Utopia lacks the 917 KH’s distinctive fins.

The steering wheel is milled from a single block of aluminum, and the cabin is filled with exposed metal. There's also only a small screen in front of the driver to keep the attention to attacking the road. Everything else is analog and mechanical – further setting the Utopia apart from all other vehicles on the road. an attribute that cannot be found on any other new vehicle.

Pagani will sell just 99 of the incredible models with a price tag of about $2.5 million. Some will be homologated for the U.S. market, but those hoping to purchase one have missed their chance - all have been sold.
